Becoming a Trainer

To become a MiRegistry approved trainer:

1. Log in to MiRegistry or create an account if you do not have one. Click the box next to Become a trainer and click the Apply/Renew button.  Follow the prompts to submit your trainer application.
2. Send in supporting documentation for any items not already verified in your profile. This may include:
   • Official transcripts or a CDA for any items not verified in your Education tab.
   • A professional resume for any employment history in the early childhood field not listed in your Employment tab.
   • A list of trainings you’ve presented to adults in the last 5 years to include dates, length, topics and target audience.

The following documentation can be sent for the three trainer approval rubric categories:

• Education: If your higher education is already verified, there is no need to send additional documentation. For items that are not verified, you can send a copy of your CDA, or have official transcripts sent per the Trainer Acceptable Documentation Policy. 
• Training Experience: List of workshops, trainings, and classes you’ve presented to adults in the last 5 years to include dates, length, topics and target audience. We also accept experience mentoring or coaching new staff, including dates, length, and topics. 
• Field Experience: If you have field experience in the early childhood field or your training subject field that is not included in the Employment tab on your personal profile, you can submit your professional resume. 

Please email your resume, list of trainings, and/or CDA in one PDF scan to support@miregistry.org, including your first and last name and MiRegistry ID in the email.

We also accept documents submitted using the tools in your MiRegistry Profile including the Ask Us/Submit Documents button.

All documents should include your full name and MiRegistry ID. Please see the Acceptable Documentation Policy for details.

Official Transcripts

We only accept official transcripts sent in one of the following ways:

• The school of attendance emails an encrypted .pdf file of official transcripts directly to support@miregistry.org.
• The school of attendance mails sealed official transcripts to: MiRegistry 2908 Marketplace Drive, Suite 103 Fitchburg, WI 53719.

Official transcripts do not need to include your MiRegistry ID since they come directly from the school.

Your trainer status is good for three years from the date you were approved as a trainer. You can view your trainer expiration date on the right side of your MiRegistry profile under Trainer. Please note that application processing may take 4-6 weeks, so we recommend submitting your trainer renewal 6-8 weeks before your expiration date to avoid your approval lapsing.

Qualifications
To qualify for trainer renewal, you must have completed the following criteria within the 3 years since your last trainer approval:

• Conduct at least 3 training events.
• Take at least 15 hours of professional development.

Typically, your 3 training events and 15 hours of professional development will be verified in your MiRegistry profile, and there is no need to send documentation.

If either your 3 training events or your 15 hours of professional development was done outside of MiRegistry and not already listed on your profile, you must submit documentation of the events and/or PD to qualify for renewal.

To qualify for trainer renewal, you must have conducted at least three events and taken at least 15 hours of professional development in the three years since you were approved.

Typically, events conducted and professional development taken will be verified in your MiRegistry profile, and there is no need to send documentation; however, if either was done outside of MiRegistry, you must submit documentation of the events and/or PD to qualify for renewal.

If you did not select Include my name in trainer lists in your trainer application, your name will not return results when people search for it in the Trainer Directory on the MiRegistry Statewide Training Calendar.

To have your name listed on the Trainer Directory, please:

1. Log in to MiRegistry.
2. Go to your Trainer tab.
3. Click Edit Information.
4. Check the box next to Include my name in trainer lists.
