Technical assistance professionals work one-on-one with professionals to provide feedback and resources that help them improve the quality of care they provide. They might communicate via phone or email or even face-to-face. They demonstrate empathy and use their excellent communication skills to build relationships and introduce or expand on research-based teaching practices, business skills, and resources available to educators and administrators. 

The TEACH Program Specialist at Michigan AEYC plays a direct and vital role in the scholarship program’s success. This position is responsible for scholarship award processing, including the efficient handling of tuition and scholarship benefits processing. The TEACH Program Specialist conducts outreach and education efforts, actively engaging in communication with employers and potential scholarship recipients to promote awareness and participation. A key component of the role involves establishing relationships with early childhood coordinators at colleges across the state to facilitate academic pathways for scholarship recipients. Additionally, the TEACH Program Specialist provides education and career counseling to individuals and serves as a resource for statewide partners on all scholarship and education related inquiries.

To be hired as a TEACH Program Specialist, a candidate must have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related degree.

A Quality Improvement Specialist provides technical assistance, resources, support, and referrals to early care and education programs/providers, families, community partners, and others. In addition, they facilitate developmentally appropriate training. They also assist families with finding child care or free preschool options and connect families in need of help affording child care with available resources.

A Quality Improvement Coach encourages early care and education program/provider engagement in Great Start to Quality, Michigan’s Quality Recognition and Improvement System. Coaches support early childhood and out-of-school time programs with developing quality improvement plans and they provide training and technical assistance to help programs reflect on their practices and achieve their goals.
