Supporting those who Work with Children and Families with Higher Education

Higher Education Faculty provide immense value to the field of early childhood and school age care and education. While many roles within the field do not require a degree, higher education coursework grounds best practices in research and tradition.

Teaching new generations of professionals best practices for educating and caring for children and supporting families is a career pathway that is grounded in tradition and research. Researchers conduct studies to understand which practices and methods have the best outcomes for children. They also seek to understand how demographic factors and public policy may impact outcomes for children and even the professionals supporting them. They may be responsible for developing the study and data gathering tools or analyzing data that is gathered. The results of studies then influence the development of field best practices and the techniques and core knowledge taught to those working in the field.

Community College and University Faculty teach core concepts, teaching techniques, and best practices. Those working with children and families use that knowledge to ensure they provide high quality, developmentally appropriate care to children.
